The Goal

Defeat the enemy Druid.

Every match in RuneCircle is a battle of positioning, resource management, and devastating spell timing. Control the battlefield, unleash powerful Kin, and outmaneuver your opponent before they overwhelm you.

Core Concepts

Druids

Your Druid is your commander and your most important unit.
If your Druid falls, you lose the game instantly.

Each faction features a unique Druid with its own playstyle, strengths, and battlefield identity.

Kin

Kin are the warriors, creatures, and summoned allies that fight for your Druid.

Some Kin dominate through raw strength, while others focus on mobility, control, support, or devastating synergy plays.

Runes

Runes generate Essence and shape the battlefield around them.

Each faction uses unique Rune effects to support its strategy and empower its units.

Essence

Essence is the primary resource used to summon Kin, cast Awen, and activate powerful abilities.

Managing Essence efficiently is critical to survival.

Awen

Awen are powerful spells and magical effects capable of turning the tide of battle instantly.

Some Awen enhance allies, while others cripple enemies or unleash overwhelming force.

The Veil

Destroyed cards are sent to The Veil.

Many factions can interact with The Veil through recursion, sacrifice effects, or delayed power plays.

Offer

Some effects require you to Offer an allied Kin.

Offering a unit destroys it immediately in exchange for powerful effects, bonuses, or devastating spells.

Power often demands sacrifice.

Turn Structure

1. Awaken

Ready your cards and prepare for a new turn.

2. Generate Essence

Gain Essence from your Druid and active Runes.

3. Play Cards

Summon Kin, place Runes, and cast Awen.

4. Move Units

Position your forces across the battlefield to pressure enemies, defend allies, or control key areas.

5. Attack & React

Combat in RuneCircle is fast, deadly, and highly interactive.

Players may respond during combat with Instants, reactions, abilities, and effects before damage resolves.

Every decision matters.

6. End Turn

Resolve end-of-turn effects and pass priority to your opponent.

Combat Basics

Combat uses a d12 system combined with Accuracy and Defense values.

Positioning, reactions, and timing are often more important than raw stats alone.

A single turn can completely shift the battle.

Factions

Pyr — Fire

Explosive aggression fueled by sacrifice and overwhelming pressure.

Pyr dominates through direct damage, brutal tempo, and high-risk offensive turns.

Hyd — Water

Control the battlefield through positioning, manipulation, and calculated spellcraft.

Hyd excels at disrupting enemy plans while creating powerful combo opportunities.

Verdant — Nature

Savage primal power fused with relentless battlefield presence.

Verdant overwhelms opponents through pressure, summoning, and raw natural fury.

Drunken — Ale & Chaos

Unpredictable aggression, tavern-fueled magic, and chaotic battlefield control.

Drunken rewards bold plays, disruptive tactics, and creative positioning.

Battlefield Strategy

RuneCircle is played on a tactical hex battlefield where positioning matters constantly.

Movement, spacing, Rune placement, and unit coordination all shape the outcome of combat.

Even a single hex can decide a match.
